Hudson was the inventor of dry soap powder, opening his first shop in 1837 making the soap by grinding coarse bars with a mortar and pestle. He employed 10 women by 1850. Hudson was also an innovator in using advertising, commissioning sriking images from artists and he paid for publicity nationally which few others did.
This lovely box is in great condition, c1910-1920.
